Baldwin Wallace Institute for Learning in Retirement – Winter 2026 session on Estate Planning

Having a basic will does not avoid probate. While a will is an essential tool, it represents only one piece of a complete estate plan. A well-rounded plan should protect your family, your assets and your intentions—both during your lifetime and after.

In this course, the instructor takes a practical, hands-on approach using real-life examples to explain the key components of effective estate planning, including the last will and testament, healthcare and financial powers of attorney, guardianship, family trust planning, HIPAA, living will and executorship. You’ll learn not only what these documents do, but how they work together to safeguard your wishes and make life easier for your loved ones.

The class also explores strategies for avoiding probate and protecting assets, demonstrating how tools such as revocable and irrevocable trusts can help you pass your estate to your heirs more efficiently, privately and with greater control.
